Welcome to the Birkdale Primary School website. Birkdale is a 1.5 form entry primary school with an attached nursery, based in Southport, which is within Sefton Local Authority. The standard entry is 45 into each year group (and 60 part-time places into the nursery). It is a popular and happy school, with a growing reputation for high academic standards and excellent opportunities for developing individual children's creative and sporting potential. The impressive range of national standards awarded to the school, including BSQM, Artsmark Gold, Active Mark and School of Achievement exemplifies this. Through the work undertaken by Mrs Trees in school, we also have the International Schools Award.

Although most year groups are full, many with waiting lists, the relatively small size of the school and excellence of the staff allows a 'family atmosphere' to pervade. Consequently, the staff and children are confident in their relationship with each other.

The school is well equipped with modern teaching aids. The computer suite is big enough for a whole class to use and inter-active whiteboards have proved to be an exciting addition to the classrooms. Freestanding computers and laptops connected to the Internet via radio links can be found throughout the school. Digital cameras and software allowing music composition are also available. New, large equipment has been erected on the playground for all children to use.

Our aim at Birkdale is to create a creative, positive, stimulating and happy learning environment through which all children will achieve success and develop their potential to the full. We look to promote their academic, spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development so that in time they will be ready for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. We are committed to providing all children with the same opportunities, regardless of gender, race, creed or culture.
